Eligibility Criteria for Startup India Registration
To obtain DPIIT recognition under Startup India, the following conditions must be met:
1. Business Structure
The startup must be registered as:
- Private Limited Company
- Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
- Registered Partnership Firm
2. Age of the Startup
- Must not exceed 10 years from the date of incorporation
- Biotechnology startups are allowed up to 15 years
3. Annual Turnover
- Turnover must not exceed ₹100 crore in any financial year since incorporation
4. Innovation Requirement
- The startup must work towards innovation, development, or improvement of products, services, or processes
- Should have scalability and job creation potential
5. DPIIT Recognition
- Mandatory to obtain a Startup India certificate from DPIIT
6. Legal Compliance
- Must comply with applicable laws such as:

Who is NOT Eligible for Startup India Recognition?
The following entities are not eligible:
- Sole proprietorships
